This, pretty much. It has basically zero redeeming qualities and has the gall to stick you with a non-evolving shitmon for the entire game, effectively limiting your party to 5. With all the other obvious gen 1 flaws, it's pretty horrendous.
But hey, the sprite work is good. For the front sprites anyway.

Mixing anime with the games is cancerous. The Pokemon anime is a disgrace to the franchise, and quite possible one of the worst long-running anime. Tell me of any other anime where the main hero gets his AI dumbed down every few seasons, just to lure in new babies to the franchise, who inevitably drop out by their teens, and leave the anime with dwindling numbers, and the games with an increasingly 18+ demographic.
It would do TPC better if they removed all investments from the anime, and actually gave GF a more lucrative incentive to change the formula just a little more, and quit giving us RBG: The Next Gen!
