My dad passed away a year and a half ago. The worst part, for me at least, is having some sort of success or question that you want to share with him before you remember you no longer can.

My wife passed away a few months ago, so I know that times like these can be harsh, be strong.
I personally didn't made any funeral arrangements, she was cremated and that was the end of it, most of our family is gone anyway.

I'm sorry. I don't know what to suggest, anon. I don't know if it would be easy to reflect on the good times you had with him because shocks of this magnitude just tend to bring out all of the regrets you had about doing or not doing stuff involving him, even if you couldn't remember what they were before no matter how much you tried to spur your memory.
