What I always do is go on the PSS and look for people who are trading, and try sending them a trade request. You never know what you might get.

These are examples of RPG post-game content.

Living dex is my go to. Feels good when you finally fill a box and have them all in order. Here you go. Unlike "popular" belief, there's still plenty of things to do. I have a feeling that because the Battle Frontier is missing, people have begun to say that the game has no content, which is completely untrue.
Don't get me wrong. I'm extremely disappointed that the Battle Frontier is gone in favor of the Battle Maison and that even "simple" things such as Gym Leader rematches aren't present. Believe me, I really wanted those features to be present as someone who considers Gen 3 to be his favorite.
But there is being disappointed and there is being too extreme. Saying there is no content is being too extreme if you ask me.

If you've not already, try going around and catching the millions of legendaries they added. Try and do the contests too; maybe with the Pikachu you get - completing all of them on one Pokémon gets you a cool effect when you release it in battle and it /might/ transfer over to Sun and Moon, if we wish hard enough.
Other than that, Battle Maison and PvP are your only main options. That or catching every Poke in each route to get a strong lead on the Pokédex.
Maybe replay X/Y to stay current, while also changing regions.
