Why is Quagsire considered such a very good viable pokemon in competitive? I mean look at his stats... ew.

And Unaware being a god tier ability desu~
>>26702440
Unaware makes it a staple on stall teams
It's a get-out-of-jail-free card against set-up sweepers
>>26702440
Unaware, plus Scald, Recover, and Earthquake are a big part of it.
>>26702452
>>26702453
I get that, but he's squishy enough that he can switch into an "unboosted" move, get outsped and KOed by the second move. Clefairy seems to outclassed him quite a bit.
>>26702440
What do you run that beats it?
What's your team?
OP here, but muh swampert look at his stats and he has the same typing. Plus mega.
>>26702440
because stats dont exist in a vacuum you fucking asswipe
>>26702517
ABILITY
RECOVERY
pokemon are not fucking defined by their stats, they are stats/type/ability/movepool/item and team synergy and most importantly niche.
stop bumping this shit thread.

>Get out of jail free card against setup sweepers
>Nasty Plot Grass Knot Thundurus
>Mold Breaker Dragon Dance M-Gyarados
>Calm Mind Energy Ball M-Alakazam
>>26702517
Ah, now it all makes sense
>>26702516
OP here, i don't even play pokemon, so yeah no team for me.
>>26702480
No, that's wrong. It's just bulky enough to survive two hits from physical nukes. Latios has a better chance against it because Unaware works both ways; the -2 SpA drop from Draco Meteor isn't factored in.
It checks hard hitting physical attackers. Neutral attacks don't do shit.
252 Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 171-202 (43.4 - 51.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 187-222 (47.4 - 56.3%) -- 30.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Even if you get high damage rolls one get it in range you better hope you're Adamant and it's switching into you or else you're getting Recover stalled and dying due to recoil, or just plain old taking 55% minimum from uninvested Scald.

Quagsire isn't invincible anon, but it does pretty well against the more common set up sweepers, like SD bish, zardx, mega sciz, BD azu, etc. Also energy ball on mega zam is useless
>>26702573
That makes sense. Literally if you don't have a one of the three or four OU viable Grass Types on your team, or "Grass coverage" which pretty much means running a completely inferior coverage move, you're weak to it. Also Ferrothorn, easily the most splashable Grass type in OU, tends to favor Gyro Ball over Power Whip in response to the advent of Fairies.
Unless you wanna talk about things like Taunt + Toxic users.
>>26702480
Clefable would rather be running Magic Guard
And you're underselling Quagsire's physical bulk
>>26702581
Not useless at all. If your Zam is weakened it might be the difference between a win and a loss to run Energy Ball to get past Quag and Manaphy.
Also if it gets to +1 on a Tyranitar switch in, it would much prefer to hit it with a 100% acc SE coverage move than 70% acc Focus Blast. Which could also mean a guaranteed win instead of a loss.

I hate this thing so much.
I mean look at those stats, ew..

>Hating on that cute ass smile
>>26702690
Energy Ball kills those gay hippos everyone runs, and works great on specially defensive
Rotom, which, though obscure, is a pain in the ass when you see it.
>>26702711
You're not very comfy, anon.
I was actually the first to use this quagsire strategy

Balance teams run it a lot. Very hard to kill, respectable attack stat, reliable recovery, sets rocks etc.
I wish Oblivious was given to more support-type Pokemon. Complete inmunity to Taunt can get pretty stupid, and I'm just using Lickilicky.
Great against physical walls.
Gets wrecked by Draco Meteor though. It's pretty scary when paired with Chansey, Lati@s, or SpD Clefable.
