It's not that I made canon teams, it's that as a kid I assumed that ever intractable pokemon was the best. I probably also thought Sudowodo was a legendary.
How do you guys remember the teams you used for the old games?
The only game I completely remember was my Blue run and that was because I only used Blastoise and a Pidgeotto named ABCDEFGHIJ (and then later Mewtwo when I caught it)

It's pretty easy to remember when half of the mons you used as a kid were either handouts or those slightly high level mons near the end-game you caught to pad out your team for the E4.

I totally broke that rule in XY. I couldn't be arsed to really catch anything new and just went with a Gallade, Gogoat, Aegislash and the local handouts. Even the Lucario. I really didn't care.

I almost faltered when they tried to give me a Kanto Starter but I stayed strong. My philosophy has always been "if it's from -Insert Region- I can go there and catch it. Good taste by the way, we seem to overlap in some places.

Back in 2013 every time anyone would post a team for XY that wasn't all Kalos mons or a mega tons of people like you write off their whole team for even one old mon that didn't get a mega/Fairy retype. People like you really piss me offeven if there's nothing wrong with how you play the game.

Like me? Jeez bud. This is just my first play through. My Y playthrough used all sorts of old mons. In fact I think the only one from Kalos was Chesnaught.
I only used my starter (always the Water-type) in every playthrough until Platinum, except for Yellow where I solo'd the game with a Pidgeot.
Platinum I used Infernape, Togekiss, and I think Roserade.
SoulSilver and White 1 I used just my starter (Feraligatr and Samurott).
White 2 I used Emboar, Golduck, Tropius (traded from another game, I don't know why I wanted to use it so bad that specific playthrough),Lucarioand Krookodile.
Y's playthrough was Greninja, Farfetch'd, Raichu, Flareon,Gardevoirand Goodra.
AS's playthrough was Swampert, Masquerain, Minun, Cacturne, Camerupt and Flygon.
And for Moon I'm using Popplio, will probably try my best to only use Gen 7 Pokémon.
This is my approximate, don't really remember all playthroughs, but I remember my favorites I had at the time.
I've played all gens several time, so I've mixed and mashed with my favorite used Pokemon from their gens
