The directors have a false sense that today's kids dont invest teh time into a single game like kids did when we were growing up. So they make the games linear, easier, and give out more legendaries because they think kids wouldnt put in the time to get them, themselves. They think because kids have access to so many gaming devices and such intodays world that if they do create a game taht is harder or less hand hold-y in general and takes some kind of time investment, that the kids will jsut loose interest and play some mobile game taht hands out rewards for doing nothing instead.
But the truth is its the harder games and the ones that require a time investment that make the most memories. No kid 15 years from now is going to look back and say "my favorite video game was candy crush, im so nostalgic about candy crush cant wait for candy crush vanilla remakes" because there is nothing memorable about it.

There was a thread with redesigned gen 1 pokemon and everyone was going crazy for them. They looked like the worst designs I have ever seen. I would take the worst pokemon designs over the best fan made content. The day pokemon becomes fan-art tier is the day I stop playing new games.
Fans are truly the worst. It's scary to think that the people working on the game actually take into account the feedback from forums and social media.
