the problem with Gen V is that it felt like all the music was in the wrong places. The best tracks play for like 4 minutes and meanwhile the worst tracks are the ones you hear for hours on end. All the common battle themes were lame and most of the routes didn't have good tunes.

My only concern about the music from these videos is that low health music, as used in Gen 5, isn't back. Instead it's the non-permanent warning beeps from Gen 6. Not a big deal, but I liked the low health music.

That music is literally just notes and a beat. There is no style to it whatsoever. It sounds like a 13 year old's school composition project. The new wild theme actually has some stylistic input, like the brass stabs, varied articulation, piano octave semiquavers. It sounds like something actual human musicians might play.
At this point, this gen or the next should just put custom soundtrack support in so we can all listen to whatever crappy music we enjoy.

I can't objectively say the Gen 2 Pokemon League music was better BECAUSE it was simpler, but the simplicity is part of why it's great. Complex music is fine but the new wild battle theme is too many different things at once. And even if the Gen 2 song is simple, it just works. it actually evokes the appropriate emotion whereas the new battle theme makes me want to click run as quick as possible

As someone who thought XY's soundtrack was garbage, the way this particular song sounds excites me.
Well, garbage is probably a little harsh. Most of the songs in XY just weren't very memorable, and their instrumentation left a lot to be desired. Sure, the samples they used were """higher quality""" than what the DS and prior platforms could handle, but if I had to pick between something like the older Pokemon games and their unique sounds, or XY's "generic garageband samples", I'm rolling with the former.
Basically my point is that I'm glad they're going with a sound that seems a bit more "dated," I guess, because that will hopefully lend itself to more memorable and catchy melodies than what XY had.
This is not to say I think this particular song is perfect or even amazing, it just gives me a little bit of hope for the rest of the soundtrack.
And, everyone's kind of forgetting that we've heard the main theme of the game, and it doesn't sound anything like this song. Odds are that not every song in the game is going to be like this one. But let's all just immediately assume the best or the worst and scream at everyone who thinks otherwise, that sounds like a plan.
