I'd like one of my favorite pokémon to be useful in battles, since it's the fucking main point of the gameplay. Collecting stuff without battles would be boring as shit. Always import from previous games and only catch new shit to fill your dex, otherwise it's tedious as fuck.

It's autistic as hell but it actually annoys me a little that magma and lava are always associated with fire desu. There's no reason why it shouldn't be ground or rock.
It doesn't help that a lot of people seem to really think that lava/magma are related to fire.

magma is weak to water IRL and turns into stone, which is weak to water as well, it's hot so it burns which is a fire associated stat, it could be used to smother like rock moves but that's death by suffocation so it's more like consumption of fire than just bashing with a boulder. It's not the only umbrella typing in Pokemon, look at Steel and technological shit.
