This. Ash has brand power. I would love to see a new protag featuring rotom(dex), but it's there's little to gain and much to risk in replacing Ash.
Ash will make it to the finals but the league will be interrupted by the Zygarde plot. Probably the entire facility will be destroyed. It will be postponed for a while, so Ash just goes to Alola. He will bring Pikachu, Greninja and Noivern with him.
