Gen 6 is going to force the Synchro/friendship bond down your throat, and its going to be specifically with your Starter Pokemon. Have fun being forced to carry and care for it throughout the entire game.

I actually wouldn't mind the starter mon having a little extra personality to it and being an actual character in the story. Make its "arc" end after the final gym or the final encounter with Team ______ then make it boxable
There were theories going around some couple days ago about Rotomdex having a Mon-to-Human translation feature so I'd actually be happy with pokemon having roles in the story too
