Okay /vp/ which move is most emblematic of each type and why?

Because it has a lot of small attacks, rather than one big hit. It's also generally under powered and unreliable like most bug types.

Stone edge is high power, but with higher than normal risk. Most rock moves have less than 100 accuracy.
Does ice beam work for ice? Also accepting made up moves that would fit better.

Dream eater seems better despite being worse.
I think outrage is a bit better than dragon claw because it reinforces the "holy shit I am OP" of having a dragon, but also the downside.
Not sure which fire is better either. Thunder makes sense.
Dark should be sucker punch or something more trickstery. Knock off and pursuit also would work.
Normal is a hard one to decide. Return makes sense because of how reliable but bland it is. On the other hand normal is also gimmick type.

I don't think Return is really "emblematic" of Normal type. It's still just "standard type" and Tackle is the most standard move.

This is for thematic reasons. I also think that GF has dropped the ball giving effects/moves to types that shouldn't have them (Scald is a good example) and would benefit from more structured themes for moves kind of like the themes that colors in MtG have.

I think there must be something better for electric. Electric moves tend to be very accurate, and the pokemon are fast. I can't think of a move that actually reflects the speed though.

Phantom force is a really good choice though, very ghost-like.
I wish there was a better or special version of pin missile that had an average power equal to ice beam. I have no idea why that isn't attack order.
