He drew Ash in and hit Hawlucha with a point blank Ice Beam, knocking it out.
Ash remarked that he thought Clawitzer only knew Pulse moves that take advantage of it's Mega Launcher ability.
Shota mentioned he taught Clawitzer Ice Beam because it was weak to Grass-types.
This has got to be the most game-like I've seen the anime go in a while.

Because they tried to do what they did in Kanto/Johto were he travels around with a bunch of cute starters and then just catches strong shit and rotates them in for gym battles, leagues and those weird filler episodes where it's like the annual Palpitoad tongue measuring competition or some shit.
Except literally no one likes that and it's much better when he has a smaller team and each of the Pokemon have some kind of personality and aren't just battle drones.

Goodra isn't really slow. Just average. And Snorlax was stated to be faster than other snorlax. He was only good with torkoal in slowmon vs slowmon matchups like vs registeel.

Yeah and the entire point of that episode was for Ash and Grotle to learn how to adapt to his new form which obviously is going to take a while. But there's no excuse for Torterra not winning a single battle and Grotle winning barely any.
