Tamamushi is nip for iridescence, which fits its role as the big city in the center of Kanto, where all the cities are named after colors. For some reason the English translation changed it to being a second city named after a shade of green.
This is why it's the only city name in English-translation Kanto to not have shit to do with the badge you get there (Rainbow badge), the city's motto ("The City of Rainbow Dreams") OR the HGSS map description ("A rich, rainbow colored city where people and Pokémon gather.")
It's a completely bizarre and nonsensical change.
