Greninja is so extremely godlike, they probably had to divert some quality from Delphox and Chesnaught to make Greninja so good.
As a side note, Delphox is ok and Chesnaught is the shittiest pokemon ever.

Delphox actually is a shit design, should've either stayed a quadraped or made fennekin a biped.
Also, Frogadier is the only good mid-evo of the bunch. They fucked up those way more than the final forms.

Delphox is pretty cool. You're free to think otherwise though.
Chesnaught is a top tier Pokemon who was gimped by having the worst color palette of all time. If his color scheme was closer to Chespin's and Quilladin's he would be the most popular Kalos starter.
Delphox is impossible to salvage.

Starting out they're all really cute. Especially Chespin.
Everything just wildly deviates when they start evolving.
Frogadier lseems like it transitioned well from Froakie. Greninja is more than alright, scarf tongue is brilliant.
Fennekin to Braixen is straight up what the fuck just happened. The jump from Braixen to Delphox looks passable though.
Chespin evolutions are just plain suffering. Quiladin is a mess, and the jump to Chesnaught makes no sense.

Chesnaught suffers from having a nonsensical color scheme, but aside from that I don't see what's wrong with it design wise. Yet people continuously shit on it and give no actual reasons as to why it's a bad design.
