I did this in black 2. I replaced Oshawott with a mudkip and used victini alongside mudkip.
I do this every time I play gen 5, fuck the Unova starters
generation 2 is awful in terms of starters.

When you've used all three starters in separate playthroughs it gets stale to reuse them.
