Gamefreak are fucking idiots who keep making bulky ice types. So with that poor move pool, and no decent stats to back it up, it doesn't do anything.
300 base power Hyper Beam is nice, but it's just not enough when your SpAtk is only 95 and with that speed.

Pretty much just this on top of a mediocre SpAtk plus no good special Rock type attack.
Ice and Rock are fantastic offensive types, Refrigerate Hyper Voice being able to hit almost as hard as Blizzard plus being able to hit reliably without Hail and past Substitues is fucking fantastic. Freeze Dry being able to get STAB against Water types is also pretty great.
But 58 speed is a death sentence

Just... never mix those two. The only typing even close is Fire/Rock.
But, imagine a Rock/Ice mon with Snow Warning/Refrigerate, but statted as a special based Weavile, with 45/120/125 offences.

Cloyster is pretty good. Hitting 5 times every time with stab icicle spear is pretty good. Add a shell smash and a kings rock to that and it can sweep entire teams

About as evenly leveled as the rest of the team, and the rest definitely weren't bad. But Aurorus has such a good offensive typing that it basically overshadowed the rest just on merit.

I've played through XY a ton of times and Aurorus is by far the worst team member I've tried. The only situation I can imagine that not being the case is if you happened to roll a fast Amaura with a speed boosting nature or something, then maybe you can strong arm things using Refrigerate boosted attacks. Otherwise a ton of the time you'll get outsped and it has enough weaknesses that almost everything in the game will be able to hit it super effective with at least one of its moves.

Cloyster and Mamoswine are Pokemon that are good despite their Ice type. They would often be better without their Ice typing. Even Mamoswine could be upgraded with a pure ground typing. It would trade its Ice resistance for a Fire and Rock resitance, while being neutral to Steel and Fighting.

Abomasnow is great in doubles. Singles I've made it work too but it's easier in doubles. Trick room monster
Mamoswine is one of the best Pokémon in singles. The coverage is amazing and the stats and typing help it slightly defensively
Jynx is a great Pokémon in Rain, considering people are stupid and don't realize it's got dry skin. It's got some cool moves and coverage
Avalugg is the king of inverse battles
Mega Glalie is good for explosion and a few neat tricks.
Cloyster is a beast in singles if you can pull off a shell smash
Kyurem is alright.
Kyurem W is godly strong
Lapras is good. Assault Vest, Ice shard and freeze dry give it some cool stuff
Dewgong can be used in doubles well w shadow tag. Perish song, encore, priority and icy wind gave it something to contribute.
Regice is pretty cute and can tank special hits
