Are pokemon games getting successively easier or am I just getting old?
I finally started ORAS for the first time (and I was also doing the nuzlocke challenge, too.) but I literally went through the first 3 gyms by spamming a move that depletes an entire pokemon's HP bar in one hit. It was the same move that I used the whole time.

they are easier then theyve ever been
but what move could you have used, on overleveled double kick?
They're getting easier. They were always easy, but they've somehow gotten easier.

Mega drain. But it would only make sense that it would work on the first gym, not the fighting or electric gyms too.
One of the biggest complaints about Gen 6 is the difficulty, you're not alone

They're easier. My 12 y/o nephew finished OR in a week, and then kept playing Smash.
You could always sweep the game with a single move. The only difference is back in the day you had to stick with a single power leveled Pokemon which was actually the easiest way to play the games, that's how I always did it until Diamond when I decided to stop doing that, but with the Gen VI EXP Share you can do that to the whole team without any extra effort.
