This is a great feature. We can designate waypoints which means the region is huge already.

You can simply not use it? At least this guarantees there won't be npcs shoved down your throat every 5 minutes to tell you something you already know.

We know it can place markers on the world map to show you where to go next. Simillar to (and inspired by) the map in Yokai Watch where the markers/arrows are an optional feature and allows for lots of side-quests and back-tracking but people are scared for some reason that it'll mean there's no challenge.
