ITT: The idea is that we map out the Alola region with Town locations, connecting routes, gym locations, etc. and then try to predict the order of progression through Sun and Moon.
So here is the first island. Note that with some screenshots we know that there is a town behind the mountain/forest, as well as a cave entrance near the northern water area.

Starting out with some easier stuff; just places of interest;
Starting Town
Route 1 leading from the gate down to the Pokemon Centre.
Forest near the starting village
Big Honolulu City
Route 2 going from the second pokemon centre up to the next group of buildings
Route 3 going from these buildings to the town hidden behind the forest.
Route 4 joining this town to the northern water/cave
Route 5 connects this area with the southern water area...
Something like that anyway...

Just feels weird for map progression, man.
Maybe they'll open up these smaller areas for more freedom of exploration, though.

Interestingly on this one, if you compare with the in-game map, you can see that there is a route that cuts in between the snow mountain and the observatory.

This looks pretty good; only thing I'd say is that if thats the daycare, then there is also one on the first island, they look to have the same logo.
Also, I think that on the far right island, the arena isn't linked to the icy mountain, in fact, in looks as though the route that splits the two mountains curves around and joins the green building.
Love the hidden cave on the far left, and I'm sure we'll be able to traversethe canyon and climb up to the legendaries

These two islands appear to have 90% of the fucking game crammed into them.

These feature three towns. One of which is the starting town, so likely two gyms.
How the hell are we getting 5-6 gyms and the pokemon league crammed on the two big islands? Maybe the artificial island has a gym, maybe an underwater one.

You know what I noticed? On every island apart from the first, there is an empty square in one of the towns.

There seem to be tons of branching paths and alternate routes and each island looks like they loop around each other. Combine that with the way point system I wouldn't leave it out of the question.

I think they're landing spots. They seem to be ditching the old map system with towns and routes being highlighted so I wouldn't be surprised if they acted as markers or something for flying.

I could see helicopters being used. Maybe they want people to have more options regarding traveling. Let's say that you can surf between islands, then the boats give you the option to avoid that. And the helicopters would let you fly between the islands at least, since there was also a large empty square on the first island.
This way, if people choose, they don't have to rely on having Pokemon on their teams just to use HMs. Though it'd obviously be more convienient to just fly to whichever PokeCenter you want.
