Masuda here, King of /vp/, but we will not be reintroducing mega evolution for the new upcoming games. We recognized in development that megas were a short term solution to a long term problem and would only create more problems. As such they have been removed. Lore-wise we will explain that megas exist in a parallel universe separate from the ones experienced in past games. However mega evolution will still exist in the anime. Sorry again, we are working on a new stat boosting mechanic for unused or neglected pokemon and will be showing it off in Sun and Moon.
