Because so far there is very little new. The graphics are pretty much the same. Nothing looks super exciting about the region.

Awful thread aside, I'm excited to explore the new region, but when it comes to being hype about the game itself, I'll wait until E3 to make a judgement. I want to see new Pokémon, that's all I really need.

I don't even have expectations. I just miss the "soul" of pokemon and I find these game already too different from Gen 1/2/3/4/5 and even 6.
Even if 3D, XY kept the "pokemon" soul (and I'm probably the only one who loved it)
by keeping the circles in battle, the tiles in the overworld and the kinda "chibi" overworld model.
now the game doesn't feel like it belongs to the franchise, at least for me.
and the synchro will probably be the nail in the coffin, and I liked megas.

Definitely this. Nintendo fans are known for their low standards, but Pokemon fans take it to a whole another level. They tend to overhype the smallest bullshit other fanbases wouldn't even think 2 seconds about (see: all those people creaming themselves over no circles in battles). This overhyping also affects their overall expectations, which then leads to thousands of "What went wrong?" threads after the hype dies off and disappointment starts kicking in.
Sun and Moon, much like all first pairs of the generation, will be decent at best. It likely won't have much in terms of postgame content, and competing with the smartphone/Yokai generation will lead to further casualisation of the main quest (Rotom-D being the first symptom). We just have to hope GameFreak has learned their lesson after ORAS and doesn't immediately rush into a DP remake, but release a full fledged third version/sequel of SM afterwards.
