It depends how you define "faraway". For example, if you are walking, as you do in the pokemon games, London is "faraway" from Paris, but if you are taking the Eurostar it is only a couple of hours away. It is dependant on translation too, the original japanes text might have said far off region in reference to time which was probably miss interperated by the english translaters as far off in terms of distance.

If that were the case the region would be called "Aloha", Kalos was named after the french word for beauty and they didn't spell that any differently. Sounds like you are trying desperately to get your pet theory to fit inspite of the clear FACTS. It is far more likely that it was named Alola bassed on a portmantau of Allo Allo to avoid copywrite issues with the BBC, bear in mind that James Turner is British so probably a huge fan of the show as most people in Europe are.
