Makes you wonder if mega evolution will be available later this time around, if the protag wears this and not a mega whatever. Though maybe it can be used for that too.

If it's mega key stone maybe you won't need a fucking held item to mega evolve. Makes it easier to want to transfer mons from PokeBank to the new games because Bank doesn't transfer items.
I think it will probably still be used for mega evolution, but also something else, like that fusing with your pokemon thing, either with the starters or the legendaries
