Actually, the pokeballs aren't actually consistent on their spot location when I took a closer look.

There might be a chance that the pokeballs are actually able to provide a general idea of how tall the evolutions really are. That's just me though.

just to make a slight adjustment, by poke balls, I mean the ones on the upper screen, implying the middle and final evolution on the same screen alongside the first forms, to show its evolutionary line without having to pick each pokemon for its image alone via scrolling.

These blank poke balls change spots as it moves from Rowlett to Litten to Popplio.

Popplio's final evolution poke ball seems to be in a strange spot, suggesting probably its final evolution taking a lot of space whilst in a similar pose to Popplio's, indicating that it will be a large pokemon at the very least. Rowlett's seem to suggest its final evolution being... very thin? Not sure about Litten's.

Since the Rowlett/Litten/Popplio stills seem to be based on actual 3D models, it's not far'fetched to assume everything else is, so it might actually be their "normal standing position" when in battle, which explains Popplio's poke ball positions.
