Will SM have Amiibo support? What would it do? Mini games? Training/earning items/etc.? Would GF stoop that low? A lot of general audience games are coming with some form of Amiibo support now, even Shovel Knight and Kirby. What if you tutor moves to certain pokemon using the Pokemon Amiibos from SSB?

I think they know better than to release pokemon amiibos because some people would go batshit for them. Pokemon is inherently about collecting and that would encourage way too many people.

Or if it spawned the specific pokemon in the grass with good IVs/moves/etc., I wouldn't be surprised. GF/Nintendo tend not to make spending money other than buying the game make any impact on competitive gameplay so we *should* be safe...

From what I recall GameFreak, or maybe just the Pokemon Company, has been pretty ambivalent about Amiibos. I recall something about this being the reason why we pretty much only have Pokemon Amiibos for Smash and from nothing else. They're unwilling to go for them. We got none for ORAS and Super Mystery Dungeon, despite Amiibos being in full swing by then.
I'd like event only pokemon as amiibos. Instead of going into town for a gamestop event, just buy a mew amiibo that gives you one mew per save. Much like those damn rare bonus discs for gamecube that gave you celebi/jirachi
