While there is luck to it, you can work out the mathematically safer options to take when flipping a tile, as well as take methods to ensure you don't drop rank or don't drop rank as hard if you fail. For example, if there's a square you know is safe, always pick it, even if it's a 1. I hear people ignore 5/0 lines or lines with only one voltorb that have the voltorb already singled out, and that's just a bad move, because the ranks you drop or whether you drop rank at all is based on how many times you flip, including 1s.

Not that guy, but those are some of the more okay ones tbqh. Gears aren't great I guess, since they're just there to fill a Magneton-like niche. But Garbodor, Stoutland, Musketeers (except Virizion), Starters (except Emboar which seems to get more shit than anyone), worst bird, Beartic, Mienshao and Reshiram are all trash. The worst that I could say about ANY Pokemon from ANY other gen is that it's uninspired, but still looks alright. Those all look like shit, though. Also little things like the snouts on Pokemon like Deerling, Mienfoo and Zebstrika having a strange rounded shape that isn't consistent with the rest of the series. Gen 5 still has mostly good Pokemon overall and a number of my favourites, but it's the only one that has some real fucking abominations.
