How'd you feel if Pokemon received monthly or once every now and then updates adding new moves, items and/or balance corrections?
Mega stones could be added with new Wi-Fi battle backgrounds, themes and character icons.

Yea, no. With how much one little thing can change the current meta it would make competitive play a nightmare if new things were added on a regular basis.
