Is this the highest level of autism? Chinese protest for Pikachu's name...
So what are they changing it to?
>>26542193
No. Highest level autism would be a protest that Pikachu does not learn Volt Tackle by level up, requiring you to breed one, when Ash clearly didn't need to.
I thought they were changing the franchise's name, not Pikachu. Something about wanting it to be more universal to all of the sub-languages China has.

The entire Chinese language of Pokemon is being changed to Mandarin, as part of the addition of Chinese language to the games. And Hong Kong hates it.
What's autistic is the sensationalist headlines talking about pikachu's name changing when it's just China. Pokemon have different names in different languages it's not That weird.

They're not "changing" anything, they're making Hong Kong-released Pokemon shit use the same names and terms as the rest of China instead of their own speshul snowflake names.

>every province has a unique dialect completely unintelligible to one another
>every school teaches proper mandarin as the universal language
>no one has a problem with this
Maybe HK should get with the program

Seriously? I don't know much about the china/hong kong relationship but that sounds super fucking entitled of Hong Kong people.
What's happening is basically
>China/Taiwan has a Mandarin anime dub
>Hong Kong has their own anime dub with different names for everything
>Nintendo is now releasing the games in Chinese and uses the established Mandarin names
>Hong Kong fags throw a fit
considering the game will be released in both mandarin and traditional, I don't see why they don't keep using the respective names in each
>>26542505
It's traditional and simplified, anon.
>>26542411
I'd be peeved if I had to re-learn a bunch of already-established names, but who the hell protests it?
>>26542639
Spergs.
>>26542639
Calling them "established" isn't entirely true, though. It's more like they're the anime names for them. If these people have played the games at all, it's been in some other language (likely Japanese), which used other names anyway.

Mexico and Spain have different anime dubs, with the Mexican one using more direct translations and names from English since the games are released in English over there, so this would be pretty equivalent to Mexicans tossing a shitfit because X/Y/OR/AS' Spanish language option only had European Spanish names and terms.
>>26542770
>so this would be pretty equivalent to Mexicans tossing a shitfit because X/Y/OR/AS' Spanish language option only had European Spanish names and terms.
Actually...they tossed a shitfit because of it
>>26542920
Well there you go, then.
>>26542920
Mexicofag here, always played the games in English but know plenty of people who switched to Spanish as soon as they had the chance. Never heard a single complaint about anything.

Hong Kong is trying its damndest not to be assimilated into the mainland shitstorm exhibiting the worst of both socialism and capitalism.
>>26543045
Will someone make Hong Kong great again?
>>26543061
Any chance of that was fucked in 1997.
