Laverre is so fucking great. It was horrible how every location in XY was basically just a set piece for the story, though. There's nothing to do back there once you've gone through.

Put it this way: I want to like Dendemille Town. If I travel there in the post game, I can talk to some NPCs who only have flavour text, or I can use the Move Deleter. Otherwise I can run around going on the rail repeatedly. What I notice about Johto towns is that the layout is one of the least blocky and more natural in the regions.
Many towns and cities in Kanto and Hoenn are laid out really square, while the building placement in Johto is more random. Hell, even Sinnoh's starting town is a square.
