He has every right to be terrorized.
Its funny how Ash's XY team is such a parallel of the AG team:
- Sceptile/Greninja get the most screentime of the saga and are the powerhouses.
- Swellow/Talonflame is Ash's heavily used bird
- Corphish and Hawulcha is the smaller pokemon but still a competent battler
- Torkoal like Goodra gets shafted with little screentime (only major difference is Goodra is a powerhouse)
- Glalie and Noviern are both late captures and rushed evolutions who don't get any big or proper battles till the league.
And this is on top of the fact that both sagas only have Ash with one starter, and Ash only captured 5 pokemon in both sagas. (even in Johto and DP he had 6 captures)
They really made an interesting throwback.

Real talk I care more about this group of characters and the end of XY then anything on TV or any other anime.
The gang has become my favorite of the Pokemon series and I care about each of them as individual characters since each of them have had multiple moments to shine.
I've been hesitant about getting a job because it would mean that I wouldn't likely be able to participate in watching the live streams anymore, and when the end of the League happens I want to watch it live.
The last time I was this excited about watching something live was over 5 years ago back when the Canucks were doing their incredible Play Off run.

I'll bet that we just get a remix or the other verses of the XY&Z song coupled with some new animation. We had Volt and Mega Volt for 54 episodes before we got Getta Ban Ban, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave XY&Z the same treatment.

Its rather bizarre the Pokemon anime as a whole (not just XY, but the entire series), is literally one of my favorite shows to watch and I'm a fully grown adult man.
