Is this the perfect pokemon?
I welcome challengers, but if I was to introduce a child to pokemon, and showed them the basics of what made a pokemon a pokemon, and not some other type of monster, it would be pic related. It's really straightforward as a design, and where it gets its powers from is also quite easy to see.

Uh, while I do feel Mareep almos feels kind of like a quintessential Pokemon, it really isn't obvious it'd be an electric-type at all. Maybe after you knew it was Electric you'd put two and two together.

I actually think Bulbasaur is moreso but I think most people have a strong belief that Pokempon need to be based on a specific kind of animal and Bulbasaur isnt so.
I'd propose the Noivern line. You can tell what it's about just by looking at it.

Yeah that's what I mean about knowing it's Electric-type. Once you know it's Electric-type it's like "well yeah that makes sense". But if I didn't know Mareep was Electric-type I would have assumed Normal I think.
