Just google Rowlet evoltuion, everyone expected a fancy guardian owl that was majestic and graceful. No one expected a Blaziken/Greninja hybrid. That's probably the big thing that gives this credence. It's just farfetch'd enough that someone who wanted to make a leak and pass it off as real wouldn't have gone down that direction, yet reasonable enough to see Game Freak designing and approving the Pokemon.
