I don't play Pokèmon competitively and I don't think I'll be getting into it sonetime soon. I see no entertainment in copying and pasting teams from a forum to play on Showdown or spending hours grinding in-game for perfect IVs. I have no problems with anyone doing this, if you like the competitive side then that's awesome. However if you think someone is a 'filthy casual' just because they don't play the game for the same reason you do then you should really just take a step back. Have some perspective, it's Pokèmon - just lighten up.
Pokèmon is different for everyone. For me it's predominantly an adventure game and the collecting aspect really shines. I know so of my friends enjoy Pokèmon purely for nostalgia and some for other things like Amie and shiny hunting.

Pokemon is about battling. You hunt them to battle. You breed them for battle. The entire fucking game tells you to make a team so you can battle other retards. There is nothing else to it.
Competitive battling is the only option since NPCs are fucking mongoloids. You either do that or you quit. There is no second or third way to it. Its not an MMO.
