Synergy Stones, from Pokken.
Synergy Burst will be a mechanic in SM and can be used to give any Pokemon a Mega-like stat boost, including unevolved ones, but only those that actually have Mega Evolutions and the like can change types or abilities.

I see those as things with two plausible solutions.
1. Simple key items used to summon/control/boost the power of the box mascots.
2. A new container for mega stones that allow mega evolution of multiple Pokemon the double, triple, and rotation battles. The villain uses something similar in the vilcanion movie to mega evolve a handful of Pokemon at once.

I think this will be, hope that doesn't stop new megas from coming like the eviolite killed cross-gen evolutions.
Maybe the pokemon will get the boost once you get the 5 hearts in pokemon amie (or its replacement)
I've said it many times before, but I'll be nice to you just this once.
It's a new key item that allows for mega evolution WITHOUT mega stones. This removes having to find like 50 stones throughout the game and having them waste bag space and having them forced as gifts from NPCs. You do need to max out your Pokemon's happiness through pokemon amie first though, then the mega evolution option appears. You're still limited to one per battle obviously.
