I don't care if you hate Hoenn but you're deluded if you think it doesn't have the best engine. The only games to have almost no loading screens and runs at 60 fps.

Try to arrange the houses around at least somewhat straight roads.

Unless you are meant to obtain Surf in the village, remove the Waterway towards the cave, otherwise it'd be just a pointless backtrack Object nobody remembers unless you can catch some legendary in it.
Only core issues with the Gen III engine like slow battles, no Day/Night, and grandfather shit like no Physical/Special split.
FRLG are the best remakes.
