Will Grass/Ground become the new Fire/Fighting and make Rowlet the new Popplio? And to rub salt in the wound, this time it'd be replacing a type combo a starter hasn't had before with one that already happened.

but grass/ground is a good offensive.

Ground is bad against Flying, Bug, and Grass. which just so happens to be types that's also strong against grass. So if you want to get anywhere, you need Rock coverage (although pretty much all ground types get those, so it's usually good).
also, this is now a Torterra thread

I prefer Grass/Ground as long as it's SpAtk leaning over Atk leaning, to better differentiate from Torterra. The Fire/Fighting trend was kinda overbearing with 2 physical and 1 mixed.
Defensively, you've got
Grass/Flying:
Weaknesses: Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, Rock
Resistances: Fighting, Grass, Water
Immunities: Ground
and
Grass/Ground:
Weaknesses: Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice
Resistances: Ground, Rock
Immunities: Electric
Grass/Flying is better offensively, but assuming Rowlet's line still has Flying type moves, then Grass/Ground is better, since Grass + Flying + Ground is only resisted by Emolga, Rotom-Fan, Skarmory, Thundurus, and Zapdos, so you can just pack HP Fire for Skarm. Not to mention Ground > Flying for the sake of taking Stealth Rock damage. If it can go Dodrio and learn Fly, it'd be immaculate.

Those are actually some pretty good points you've raised. If it does end up going Ground, then hopefully they'll give the line moves to accomodate for both types.
