If they wanted to go back and do re designs, they should've gone with cross gen evolution.
I want full focus and attention on new Pokemon, not just forms of old ones. I want to be surprised by a substantial dex entry amount, and be able to catch and discover new designs. That's why BW were my favorite, new Pokemon completely throughout so the games felt fresh

Or, you know, they can have more than 70 new dex entries and not be drowned out by old fucking Pokemon on every route of the game. The balance was awful in XY. It's really not a good sign if the first patch of grass you step in, is a forced encounter with a Pidgy, especially if it's the start of a new gen

I don't spazz about Megas because it took as a long ass time revamping and buffing the actual fucking metagame--with it still being ever-changing and pending.
So, let's give Megas a chance here to improve and be valuable--maybe a nerf here or there in S/M, and then a total overhaul in Gen Whatever. Wither way, I can wait.

On second thought, a better idea would be that you gain access to megas early on in the main story, but random trainers also have them. Rutile Ruby and Star Sapphire did this and those were pretty fun.

Not th esame anon, but basically, the biggest problem was how much of a powercreep they created, they seriously fucked up with primals. Why else would everyone use the same fucking team on VGC. I swear to god the ball was dropped hard on this one.
also the selection, XY basically used everything strong or popular and made it stronger so it is also more popular, but ORAS pretty much reedemed on that note with more experimental megas, which was how it should've been from the start (save the primals).
I seriously hope SM nerfs the base stats of some of the biggest contenders for game-breaking, as well as adding more diversity on how megas are used and what kind of mons get'em
