Perhaps it has to do with their characters and the way they look at things. Bonnie for once is a kid and doesn't worry as much to her it might just be Ash dicking around. Clemont is worrysome as a character but he looks up to Ash so he doesn't worry as much and knows he skrong. Serena on the other hand had talked to Ash and while some say her words weren't harsh they might had been to someone who was deppresed. The guy is dealing with his problems then she shows up to basically say stop emofagging. It is natural for her to be more worried because she doesn't know the effect her words had on him. Of course it boosts Ash's confidence but for all she knows he might had broken down for not only letting his pokemon down but also a dear friend.

The people behind the anime see the money in this shipping nonsense, so they're milking it for what it's worth until the end where she'll be left on the wayside and forgotten like every other partner Ash has ever had.
Hell, Serena's backstory is piss poor at best. Her entire early motivation was "Hey, I knew that boy from a shoved in summer camp as a kid when he helped me back to camp for my hurt knees, something most kids would have done. It's not really a proper romance arc either, just the first female who's been properly interested in him and is a reoccurring character.
I just don't see anything coming from it unless one of three scenarios happens.
1. Ash's journey "ends" and Aloha follows a new protagonist
2. Long distance thing, which would just equal her getting a few occasional lines and a possible cameo
3. They find some way to fit her into the plot for SM, which to me feels like it wouldn't work all that great and honestly gives me a vibe of them pulling a love triangle by breaking a trope and giving him another female traveling partner.
