NYC is such a shit setting. I've never played a game based on it that wasn't boring as fuck. Even the GTA games featuring Liberty City are shit compared to the ones with other locations.

Castelia City was hit or miss for lots of people; I didn't think much of it either, but the rest of Unova was great. Plenty of diverse habitats, multiple secret routes to uncover, Bridge Village, being on the cliffs and looking at the routes below, etc etc.
Basically all the more natural routes are based in gen 5.and in general
