I did a bunch of research and what it appears to come down to is looking at their pictures of the cartridge to determine its authenticity, I just wanted some opinions from actual people instead of guides.I wish it was 2001

No, if it's fake and they don't say that, you can and most likely would get your money back. Just check if the seller has good rep and if he's sold any other items like that.

I bought Platinum off of eBay and didn't have any problems. Just make sure the seller has good rep.
It's pretty risky to pick up a game off the ground :^)
