Every single gen has it's own style, which helps you remember which Pokemon are in which Gen.
Gen 2 happens to be my favorite style.

I feel like Johto does have a unique and identifiable style. They have a certain simple "softness" even the rugged-looking ones, like Donphan and Skarmory are kind of quaint.

If I'm being honest, I love the Cross Evos, but aside from them, Sinnoh has such a trash dex. If you look at DP's dex you can't get 17 of the cross evos in game before going into late Postgame, and like nobody shows them off so how are you supposed to know that they can evolve while also being the most obscure ways. Out of the 11 you can get in the dex, 7 of them are baby evolutions

The Pokemon that you've sorted into Sinnoh look absolutely nothing like Sinnoh Pokemon.
In fact, the only dex designs that I'd say have any distinct identity at all are Kanto, Hoenn and Unova but even those can largely fit into other regions.

They were extensions of the first Dex. I like to view Johto and Kanto as one whole big thing. New evos and pre evos and the regions are right next to each other. Plus wasn't Johto basically witheld content to the original game, as awesome as it was by itself?
Gen II Pokemon are the worst. Mostly round blobs, lots of abstract designs and few realistic ones comapred to Gen I, lots of useless single stage mon and starters are definition of boring "it just got bigger" evolutions.

There are so many Gen 2 mons I thought were gen 3. I never got to play GS as a kid so I thought they were introduced in 3. My living dex has been a learning experience.
