Honestly all they have to do is prevent special Pokemon from being asked in the first place. Mew, Meloetta and all those that even if you wanted to trade, you can't, just have a message pop up saying "You can't ask for that Pokemon!" it's not going to prevent people asking for Gen Legends or version exclusives, but it overall remove all the people asking for untradables

The thing is, putting up trades like this isn't dumb, sine there is a fair chance that some idiot or hacker will grant it. It's actually something that happens.

Alternatively, make a system that rates pokemon objectively and gives them a value. You can only trade pokemon with the same value or less e.g: a shiny 6 IV weedle is worth as much as a normal 3IV victini.

Where "Common" means catchable in the game you're asking from or its opposite (as in, Lotad is Common NFE even in OR, because you can catch it in AS).
No Common/Uncommon for Legends, keep them feeling legendary, but seperate the mythicals. Keep Ground-for-Mew type trades out too.
It's simple, cuts this shit out, allows more balanced trading, and is very easy to use.
And from a programming perspective, it's likely you could implement this in all of 15 minutes, assuming the trading system's infrastructure isn't a fucking messwhich it probably is, but one can hope.

Like other people have suggested, I think the best solution would be to put a time limit on deposits, like a few days to a week. That way the GTS doesn't stay clogged up with bullshit offers/requests.

by far my biggest complaint with the game. if you can't trade mew you shouldn't be able to ask for mew. it's not that complicated.

If the GTS automatically only showed requests of Pokemon you currently have available in your box to the especifics of the request (gender/level) and that are tradable would save a lot of time. Many a-times I was looking for something that I know I had, but turns out it was either the wrong level, or gender or was I just didn't have it on the box anymore, but on the GTS it would still show as captured

How to fix GTS
1) Show EV and IV in the summery, that way you know what is being offered for sure.
2) Include a trader stat on the player ID. People who you've traded with can rate the trade as fair or unfair or just ignore it. Once you get this rating over a certain level you can ask for legendaries in GTS trades, higher still and you can ask for a specific form, shiny or mythical.
3) Rank where trades appear on the list according to trader stat in point 2. This will still result in a bunch of doofuses asking for mews for weedles but they'll be a few pages back and be less of them.

Legendaries should only be allowed to be traded for other legendaries, but the OP of the pokemon being traded should be able to take a non-legendary offer.
