I've been wondering this for a while.
If this clip is the source y'all say shows the rival, how do you come to the conclusions about the clothing & hair colour? Literally all you can see is a blue oval that is most probably a hat, and a triangular piece of a piece of clothing.
It could be a skirt. It could be shorts. It could be shorts/skirt over leggins. It could literally be anything.
The "hair" could be a piece of clothing, or a piece of her bag. And black is nowhere to be seen in the few pixels that you guys all say is hair.
I', not saying this is all not true, I'm just saying you have absolutely no proof for it, someone interpreted it like this and everyone just jumped on the bandwagon.

Look at Rosa, she's wearing a culotte, a type of shorts that is actually very popular in young fashion these days, and you can see lots of girls in Japan wearing them - they're very loose and do sit like that. I noticed that. That's why it would make sense for her to be a girl, too, because MC in the clip is a boy. But really, GF likes to change standard scenes like this up a lot, see Gen3/ORAS and how you get your Pokémon there.

Guise, would you recommend attending artistic school? Hi-school specifically.
My friend learned most of basic stuff there, I already took a year (since last vacations) of an art class (paid lessons), but ehh... this will be my last activity as they want to restrain it only for underagebs. Even tho I learned more during that time than for 6 years of doing almost nothing since 2009 I still don't feel "good enough", not even for dAutist tire level.
Have no idea what to do with myself, as I clearly need some clear direction(s) and am rather not a type of a self-learning/teaching person.
Around which time would you recommend to buy a tablet btw?

Are you like, 15? It really IS summer.
Anyway, take a simple intro class so you can learn what you like and what you don't like, invest in a digital tablet, and after that it's just a matter of consistency and drawing with the intent to improve.
I went to an art magnet high school, so my viewpoint is a bit different than that of a regular high school but you really don't want to spend a lot of money on art classes. There's nothing being taught there that you can't learn online in this day and age.

From what I've heard art school experiences really vary from person to person. If you're the type that needs guidance on learning things and you actually have the money for it, then go ahead and go to art school if you feel like you need it. If you're planning to get a job in the artistic field it's also a great way to meet others and maybe make connections with people already working in the industry. If you want to learn more for a hobby I think you'd be better off learning some self-discipline if you want to get better. Some people regret art school because they already had the discipline to learn it themselves in the first place and didn't actually learn much, and you also don't have to go to art school necessarily to get a job. the choice there is yours really, it's just school.
About the tablet thing, get one whenever you feel like, the sooner the better as with all practices. It takes time to get used to but it'll feel more natural eventually. Some advice on buying one, brand actually doesn't really matter that much, wacom was top dog in the market for a lot of time because it's always had drivers for everything since the beginning but there's other brands that work just as well as a wacom tablet for a way lower price. Monoprice is a very popular alternative. Buying used old wacom tablets is also a good idea, I switched from a fancy wacom intuos4 to a bamboo and honestly it was the exact same to me. Tablets with buttons are what you should look for for that delicious shift/ctrl+z mapping ability. Start looking at 200$+ or fancy on-screen-drawing tablets like cintiq or yiynova when you're actually really gud or working more professionally.

The thing I lacked was the motivation for practice, am not sure how to force myself to start doing it, maybe a hour each day? There I could clearly see improving each lesson, I doubt I'd even notice such things myself. I was shocked when I was told I must end this because she will limit it only to underageb shitters, what the fuck. That was only object like that in my neighbourhood, I don't even know if anyone teaches such stuff (paid) aside that artistic lycaeum which advertised there. But I hated attending regular school so much, dumb bydlo environment.
Amongst the /vp/ artists I changed out with Wacom and Bamboo were the most popular ones (I've seen mentioned most of the time). They also used the program called Paint Tool SAI, which one would you recommend? My friend who got me into drawing (again, this time seriously) uses Corel.
I'd look for those with buttons, yep Ctrl+Z is what I would need certainly.

an hour each day would be reasonable to try for each day, yeah. one of the only actual benefits of art school is that it would be forcing you to take time out of your day, but you can learn anything a school can teach on your own. again, it's just school.
Wacom is the brand, bamboo is a model name, I've heard good things about other tablets/brands so it's not a necessary tablet to get or anything, but they're good because nowadays used bamboos in nice condition are cheap and you still get the wacom brand everyone likes. Paint tool sai is generally considered to be very easy to pick up if you're just getting into digital drawing so it's worth a try. I tried corel when I was starting out but I didn't like it nearly as much as sai. I'm not sure if corel does trial versions but sai also has a 30 day trial for the full thing. Sai is starting to feel kind of out-dated though, so I'd actually recommend Clip studio paint/Manga studio because it's generally like sai but with better tools. Wait until it goes on sale instead of shelling out full price, it goes on sale either once or twice a year for like 10 or 15 dollars instead of like, the 50 it normally is iirc

So I tried drawing the protagonists in sugimori style as much as I could a few days back and I wasn't satisfied and so I restarted drawing them. Heres the girl doodle needs some more finishing lines but I'm pretty satisfied with the proportions. Not quite sure if the arm are final not really liking their pose.

You got the proportions down very well, I think you know anatomy alright by now, but it still kind of shows that it needs to sink in. Just practice, that'll happen all by itself at this point.
The right thigh is too thin though, her head doesn't have a back (or the hair just lies down too flat, can't tell) and the arms look bad compared to the legs. The legs look great, with all the straight lines in the front and curves in the back, so why do the arms look like sticks? You can do better, I see that in the very same picture. Maybe that's because you haven't decided on the pose yet, but the sleeves look like sticks too. It's fabric, it should be moving and flowing more.
So yeah, the body is good. The placement of the eyes/nose/mouth on the face is a bit off still, just copy a few more Sugimoris to get that right continuously. It's a journey. Hell, I know it is. c:super struggling with faces too right now
I really like the left leg + shoes + lower half of the right leg. That's the best parts about the picture.

Hands are hard, it's like that for everyone - you really just have to practice it over and over again, especially things like that. Just look up references and then draw pages full of hands, and don't just copy them, but try to really understand how to build up the drawing.
I've never actually practiced drawing hands in 18 years, and I can barely get away with it.:S
Obviously more for entertainment than artistic merit.
