Gen 2 Grass Starter : Probably the worst starter in the entire franchise. Shitty stats, moves and design. Just looks like a green jelly bean with a long neck.
Gen 6 : Chesnaught is so overdesigned and shitty. And he looks nothing like his pre-evos.
Chespin and Quilladin have light brown faces with dark brown triangles on the edges. Chesnaught does not.
Chespin and Quilladin have three tufts of hair/leaves on their heads. Chesnaught does not.
Chespin and Quilladin have green/dark brown bodies with light brown faces, white claws and orange tail tips. Chesnuaght is completely different, with a primarily white body design.
It was such a shame since Chespin looked so promising.

Grass is still god tier in general.
Pink : The claws change colour, and are now on the end of some lanky-ass tentacle arms.
Orange: Not really similar, they're different colours and come from different directions.
Blue & Purple : Yes...they are both round and have faces.
Red : Quilladin : Green spikes with a red tip, just like his tip Chesnaught : White spikes on a shitty inorganic looking cape/shield.
Green : The one thing that holds them together.
