Slowpoke here, working my way through the gens I never finished the story on to get myself ready for Sun & Moon in November. I beat X a couple months ago and finished up Alpha Sapphire last night, and now I'm arguably saving the best for last, Soul Silver.
I'm just looking for team building advice since Gen 2 is more or less the longest campaign with 2 leagues to run through so I'll need a solid team. I've only managed to put together 3 so far with Typhlosion, Lapras, and Ampharos, but no idea where to go after that.

Don't use a full team of six, or you'll be grinding forever.
I'm using a team of Ferligatr, Ampharos, and Crobat in SS now. Only thing that gives me major trouble is Magnetons.

I was considering either Espeon or Umbreon since they give me more type coverage and Psychic and Dark types aren't that plentiful. After that I'm lost.
