Skarmory and Scizor were basically THE mascots for the new Steel type when Gen 2 was released (considering there were only six of them, and two of them were old Pokemon, that's not surprising). I've played through Gold in 2000 (a chinese bootleg with shitty translation) and lost my shit when saw german opening of 2nd gen's anime where Skarmory was featured for a brief moment (or maybe it was a commercial?). Somehow I didn't encounter it even though I used to grind for the last gym on the route where it appears. I might have used some sort of a guide to confirm where it can be found.
