I mean, it really depends on what generation I'm currently playing through, but I'd say there's plenty of content to keep non-competitive types interested in the vidya side of the Pokemon franchise

I battle occasionally on Showdown since I lost pretty much all my competitive Pokémon and don't really breed anymore.Also pornand I started doing rps about a year or so ago, so there's that too.
