Hating is way to strong a word, at most some people don't like it as much as the others in the series. Maybe a handful really do hate it but not that I've seen here.
I think when people say they dislike Gen 5, they mean BW/B2W2 specifically.
Remakes are "technically" part of a generation, but I usually think of them as 'oh yeah the ___/___ remake"
