(although he gets a crush on an Indian girl, who I hate the most in the show, but a few others do too) SU is all about growing up and seeing that nobody's perfect and gaining responsibility. I love SU. But the fanbase itself seems like a bunch of idiots.
For me, SU is great because it knows it's a cartoon, and makes clear jokes and references about how it really wants to be an anime, giving you tons of stuff like Dragonball Z vibes, etc. Plus the characters, after starting off all pretty bland, actually grow and become far more interesting.
Plus who can't help but laugh at Peridot in the tiolet. And the lion man...
It has charm and a decent plot. The fanbase just sucks ass.
If you don't like Steven Universe, that's cool.
It's a shame that some don't even give it a shot because of all the misplaced "sjw stigma" that's completely non-existent within the show itself.
It's got the kind of blend of action and comedy that I miss in shows these days, when most are trying to be a pure comedy like Uncle Grandpa and Teen Titans Go and the new Powerpuff Girls.

The problem with SU fans is the same problem that SU haters have. None of you fucks are listening to anyone else's opinions.
The show has good points. You can say that it blends comedy with action during a time in animation where that's rare, especially on Cartoon Network. Also that it makes some meta jokes and generally has a good story.
But you can argue that the art style is bland and downright ugly, with a female powered tone to it that can be offputting. You could also argue that the voice acting can go from mediocre to bad, and the jokes can be extremely cringey. It's also fallen into the "posted everywhere" problem, which makes non fans pissed off about it. No one wants to keep looking at things they don't want to.
Just listen to each other and respect everyone's opinions, even if you feel like they're wrong.
