Nice placebo. It's true that CIA installation is somewhat faster but it's still capped, plus there's the time to find the CIA in a shitty site, download it, copy to your sd and install, while on the other you just scan a QR code from a site and leave your 3DS doing the rest.
QR installation is capped to 250 KB/s but it's installed as soon as its done, normal installation has to go through all I said above and it's capped to 286KB/s or something. Most of the time QR is worth it even for the least effort.

It's latest FBI, it can install tickets directly linked in QR codes (or CIAs themselves but you won't find these directly linked as easy), and then can download the ticket content straight from CDN (Nintendo's distribution server).
